Why I don't support Donald Trump, Part I - Positions; or, the lack of them.

  • Trump has shown massive inconsistencies in his position on immigration, as recently as 2012, when he criticized Mitt Romney as "mean spirited" for promoting deportation enforcement policies.
  • Trump managed to contradict himself 3 times regarding his policy on Syria on June 16, 2015, wavering first between indifference, then pro-invasion, then anti-invasion.
  • Trump has spoken out in favor of Universal Health Care, specifically single payer, which is well to the left even of Hillary Clinton and parallel to that of Bernie Sanders.
  • Trump admits to getting military advice and knowledge from TV shows.
  • Trump says he was opposed to beginning the Iraq war in 2004... the war began in 2003.
  • Trump's trade tariff proposals have been condemned as dangerous and irresponsible by leading businessmen like Tom McNerney and economists. It has the very real potential of starting a trade war and igniting a depression (much like Smoot Hawley did in the early 20th century).
  • While Trump openly admires strongmen like Vladimir Putin and the Chinese Politburo, Russians themselves think of him more like an ultranationalist clown like Vladimir Zhirinowksy.
  • Instead of coming out and supporting Israel, he has stated he will be "neutral" between Israel and Palestine.
  • Trump claims he's going to pay down the national debt and fix our broken budget while at the same time saying he's not going to touch entitlement programs, thinking that somehow magically we'll get money by shaking down our allies, cutting FWA, and forcing Mexico to pay up.
  • Trump has stated that he will force the military to commit war crimes. He has also expressed a willingness to torture prisoners of war.
  • Trump made a yuuuge mistake while trying to address the national debt, First he suggested the US would default on its debt. When walking that back, he then considered that we could just print more money, creating hyperinflation.
  • Trump thinks more countries should have nuclear weapons.
  • Trump now supports the leftist idea of a minimum wage hike.
  • Trump supports disbanding NATO, calling it outdated and useless, even with an increasingly ominous Russian presence.
  • Trump wishes to bomb Iraq's oil fields or outright take the oil by force.
  • Trumps immigration policies, once enforced, would cost the US government $400-$600 billion, reduce the GDP by $1.6 trillion, and take 20 years to complete.
